“Out of all of the employability sessions and programmes I signed up to at university, Discuss was by far the most helpful. The opportunity to visit the participating firms, alongside the invaluable application advice and mock interviews provided by Rare, puts you in an extremely strong position to secure a vacation scheme.

With the help of Rare, I was lucky enough to be offered a place on the vacation schemes at Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance and Slaughter and May. I would strongly encourage you to apply!”

Joshua has started a training contract at Allen & Overy.

“The Discuss Programme was a fantastic opportunity to go inside some of the biggest law firms in the City to see what they do and how they do it. It was fascinating to talk face-to-face with lawyers at each firm, from trainees to partners, and to have the chance to see how each firm is different.”

Rare guided me through the application process. They gave tips on what to include in application forms/CVs, they conducted mock interviews based on each firm’s format and, once I had vacation scheme offers, they conducted a workshop to help me take the most from the experience. In the end, I had interviews with three sponsor firms, and ended up doing summer schemes with two. I got training contract offers from both, and I doubt that I could have done it without the Discuss programme.”

Evan has started a training contract at Slaughter and May.

ABIGAIL WILLETT

"Without Discuss, I would not have had the confidence to apply for jobs at top city law firms, let alone the skills to secure vacation scheme placements and training contract offers. Everyone at Rare has been so helpful, and the time spent at three international firms meant that when it came to interviews, I felt prepared for the challenge. The Discuss programme provided incredible support through every stage of the application process, and I can't thank everyone at Rare enough!"

Abigail will be joining Herbert Smith Freehills as a trainee.
